New Delhi/Kevadiya: All eyes are on Gujarat’s Kevadiya village today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the world’s tallest statue, Statue of Unity, built in honour of India’s first Deputy Prime Minister of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The statue of Patel, fondly remembered as the Iron Man of India, is at a staggering height of 182 meters and was built at a cost of nearly Rs 3,000 crores.
The grand inauguration ceremony of the world's tallest statue is being held on October 31, which is also the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. The statue, which is said to be twice the height of Statue of Liberty in US, is located at a river islet called Sadhu Bet near the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat. It was constructed in a record time of 33 months. Meanwhile, ‘Run for unity’ events will also be organised on Wednesday across the nation to honour the Iron Man of India.
